CAPESIZES
Another dull, flat day for the big ships with the Australian majors
still sidelined over cyclone issues.
Port Hedland was said to be evacuating with Cyclone Lua expected to
make landfall Saturday. The Port Authority had been expected to
evacuate all vessels at 4.00pm today in response to the cyclone which
was earlier said centred 400 nautical miles northwest of the port.
Four loaders for BHP Billiton will be closed and one for FMG. There
was no news of Rio Tinto but it sources said it would likely close its
four loaders in Dampier.
Otherwise the 194,000-dwt 1986-built Kassos Warrior agreed a
reasonable $12,500 daily plus a $200,000 bonus for a trip from Goa to
China, but a charterer as not disclosed.
The Mosel N, 122,311-dwt 1995-built spot Singapore fixed on
subjects for an east coast Australia/South Korea cargo, but details
were not disclosed. Some brokers said Dong-A fixed the ship others
that it was STX Pan Ocean.
The Pacific Resource, 180,000-dwt 2010-built, which sailed Rizhao
13 March was rumoured fixed, but details were not disclosed.
In the Atlantic, Vitol was said to have now fixed a 2-11 April
160,000-tonne 10% coal cargo from Bolivar to Dangjin possibly the
Swiss Marine relet China Act 151,688-dwt 1995-built open Immingham
22-25 March at a rate said to be in the low $27.00 range.
Trafigura was linked with the Rio Tinto relet Mineral Beijing
174,083-dwt 2004-built spot Gibraltar for a 3-18 April cargo from
Bolivar to Dangjing. Some said the rate was in the low-mid $25.00s
others that it had been done on timecharter at $25,000 daily.
SVS has the Nord Pyxis 2010-built 114,5000-dwt on subjects for a
20-25 March 110,000-tonne 10% coal cargo from Baltimore and Hampton
Roads to Redcar at $11.50.

PANAMAXES
It remained repetitive to say but the Argentina/Brazil market
remained the driving force in the Atlantic supporting the fronthaul
trades. There was talk of charterers prepared to take ships dop
Continent or Mediterranean, but little has been reported fixed.
Transatlantic rates have yet to show substantive signs of
improvement for Panamaxes although some of the struggling Post
Panamaxes have now gone but at rates that for now cap levels for those
ships left behind.
Rates in the Pacific area were largely flat and may possibly ease
although there was still reasonable demand in Southeast Asia and
Australia. The NoPac remained positional.
Again with rates from Argentina/Brazil still firm more owners
appeared willing to risk the ballast rather than face current rates.
With paper values drifting there was more of a reluctance to commit
to period business although GMI took the thirsty 79,328-dwt 2010-built
Shinyo Ayush from Jintang 20-21 March for 4 to 7 months trading at
weak $9,250 daily.
In late trade there was talk that Bunge has taken tonnage for
period as have other grain houses, but details were lacking.

ATLANTIC
Oldendorff took the Sri Prem Veena, 2007-built 82,000-dwt, for 1-3
April delivery Praia Mole for a trip via Ponta Da Madeira to China
with grain at firmer $16,000 daily plus a $600,000 bonus.
The Epson Trader, 82,656-dwt 2007-built prompt River Plate went on
subjects for a trip to the east, but a rate was not reported. Some
sources suggested this was possibly the ship fixed to Vale for a River
Plate/Brazil run to the east.
It emerged that the Hebei Tangshang 2012-built 93,270-dwt Santos
prompt fixed for a trip via east coast South America to Skaw-Cape
Passero at $10,000 daily plus a $220,000 bonus, but the ship has
ballasted from Indonesia. The rate was agreed Tuesday.
The Genco Vigour, 73,941-dwt 1999-built 20-25 March east coast South
America fixed on subjects for transatlantic business. The owner had
been aiming for $10,000 daily plus a $350,000 bonus.
Vale fixed the Navios Aldebaran 76,529-dwt 2008-built for a
70,000-tonne 10% cargo from Ponta Da Madeira to Dunkirk for 19-24
March shipment at $15.00.
The Clare, a 74,759-dwt 2005-built GMI relet, open 13-15 March
Itaguai failed with Vale and was then said to have fixed on subjects
with Noble for a prompt-24 March cargo from Paranagua to the
Continent, but a rate was not reported.
The China Cosco relet Medi Baltimore 76,469-dwt 2005-built passing
Cape of Good Hope 27 March fixed to Medmar on subjects until Friday
for River Plate/Turkey with grains at $8,800 daily plus a $280,000
bonus.
In the US Gulf the Matilde Corrado, 72,790-dwt 2002-built South
West Pass 3-8 April fixed for a trip via the gulf to the east on
subjects with Oldendorff at $15,750 daily plus a $550,000 bonus.
The Great Jade 73,192-dwt 1997-buit was said on subjects with Noble
for a trip from the US Gulf to the east at $16,000 daily plus a
$600,000 bonus.
RICS took the Genco Beauty, 73,941-dwt 1999-built for 29 March-3
April delivery South West Pass for a trip via the gulf to South Korea
at a strong $16,000 daily plus a $650,000 bonus.
ArcelorMittal has a 20-30 March 70,000-tonne 10% coal cargo on
subjects from Norfolk to Rotterdam. The charterer had been aiming to
fix at $12.00.
The Elbe 2001-built 75,259-dwt open Stade spot has gone but some
said this was for in-house business.
Transatlantic rates remained flat although some of the Post Panamax
weighing on the market have now fixed, although the rates they have
agreed have kept a cap on rates for others.
The Oldendorff relet 2011-built Ao Hong Ma 92,500-dwt Dunkirk 16-18
March was linked with Atlantic Coal and Bulk on subjects, but it was
not clear which business although the ship is able to breach IWL.
The 91,800-dwt 2010-built Star Breeze open Dunkirk spot was also
linked with Atlantic Coal and Bulk for a cargo from Ventspils to
Taranto at $8,000 daily or the equivalent.
The Morgan Stanley relet Doric Warrior 92,500-dwt 2010-built spot
Gibraltar has gone with some suggestion this was the ship
ArcelorMittal took for a Nouadhibou/Dunkirk cargo at $8.00.

ASIA
It emerged that the 75,600-dwt 2010-bult Kea was rumoured booked
for a trip from Fangcheng prompt for a trip via Australia and Persian
Gulf with redelivery Red Sea at $10,500 daily.
There had been a report linking EBC with the ship at this rate for
PMO redelivery this rate, but this proved inaccurate.
The 76,499-dwt 2007-built Genco Raptor was fixed for passing Taiwan
delivery 18-23 March for a trip via Indonesia to the Singapore-Japan
range at $7,250 daily but a charterer was not reported,.
Klaveness was said to have taken the 76,633-dwt 2004-built Sorrento
open Xiamen prompt for a trip via Indonesia to south China at $7,500
daily.
Earlier BHP Billiton took the Yong Li 74,382-dwt 2001-built for
13-15 March delivery Xiamen for an east coast Australia round at
$8,500 daily.
The Alkyon 74,875-dwt 2001-built spot Singapore was rumoured close
to fixing, but details were not disclosed.
Post Panamaxes struggled with a report that Oldendorff booked the
Umberto D'Amato 93,270-dwt 2011-built from Indonesia 19-24 March for a
trip to South China at just $5,000 daily plus a $110,000 bonus.

HANDYMAXES/SUPRAMAXES

ATLANTIC
Rates remained steady for Supramaxes in the Atlantic, but there was
very little fresh reported fixed.
In the smaller size range it emerged that the Rattana Naree

a trip to Reunion-Mauritius at around $15,900 daily.
The CMB Mae 2010-built 33,694-dwt 24-28 March Recalada fixed for a

reported.

Brunsbuttle spot fixed for a trip via north France to
Mauritius-Reunion, but a rate was not reported.

trip via Indonesia to east coast India at a good $14,500 daily with an
option of west coast India at $15,000 daily.
   The Ras Ghumays-1 59,000-dwt 2011-built allegedly went at $9,000
daily for delivery Shanghai for a trip via Indonesia to India, but a
charterer was not reported.
